I am a revered teacher and private tutor. Known as the “James Bond” of private tutors, I am considered one of the best in the world at connecting with adolescents, igniting academic passions, and inspiring students to achieve higher test scores and grades through meaningful personal growth.
I began my career as a Colet Fellow at St. Paul’s School in London, teaching Science and Drama, and further developed my hands-on, creative approach at Saint Ann’s School in Brooklyn, where I taught Science, Psychology, and Theater. I have also worked at Kaplan, Manhattan GMAT (where my boss was Andrew Yang!), and Latitude Tutors, a company I founded in 2012 and sold six years later.
I specialize in creative problem solving, and I hold a PhD in Cognitive Science in Education. With 18 years of teaching and tutoring experience, I now command a private tutoring rate of $1,500 per hour and have been flown all over the world to teach. Aiming to create a network of elite tutors around the globe, I founded the League of Exceptional Tutors in 2023. I am now a professor at Columbia University, Teachers College, where I teach classes on Creativity and Motivation. I also created the world’s first tutoring course at the University level, which will launch in January 2025.
My academic foundation includes degrees from Duke, Georgetown, and Columbia. I further extend my impact through the Humans Teach Foundation, which promotes AI literacy, and The Backyard Comedy Series, a community project combating loneliness through live comedy. I am also a Meisner trained actor, improviser, and clown (this helps with the teaching), and once acted in a movie with Ethan Hawke (it was Ethan’s son’s student film in 8th grade).
I am currently a content creator for YouTube (Scalar Learning, 110k subscribers) and have a digital Skool Community of global learners (J.E.D.I. Training for the SAT – 563 members).
